The concept of simulation is the main theme of the 1999 movie 'Metrix'.
The main character who lives in that movie is realizing a truth. That the life he lives, the things he lives together and sees around him are all hypocrisy. We and the objects around us are a world programmed with the help of just one computer. Such a computer program is called simulations.
Simulation theory is the theory that there is such a possibility.
But will human, the earth, and the solar system all be a programmed simulation? we will see.
Simulation theory is a theory that may seem strange at first, but it is also frightening when you think about it. Is this the theory that most advanced societies can use their powerful computer technology to create programs that seem realistic, i.e. simulations?. For example video games. Many types of video games are being created very fast today, and video games are now being made using better graphics in a way that looks more original than in the past. Going forward, the games will be built in a way that makes it seem realistic.
Advanced civilization can give life and consciousness to game characters through programming. At the same time, the man in the game cannot understand the reality that he is the man in the game. Then we, the society around us, and this world will be a computer program built with a lot of advanced civilization. This theory is called Simulation World Theory.
While this is a theory, we cannot completely rule out its possibility. Simulations, virtual reality, augmented reality and many other technologies have already been invented that seem to be real.
But if there are to be such simulations, that is, to give a man consciousness. The brain must have powerful computers capable of performing all the functions that take place. That is, a powerful computer that can perform 1 × 10 ^ 14 operations together in one second. This calculation was made by an expert named Hans Moravec. Nick Bostrom is another expert at Oxford University who, by his calculations, can simulate a man perfectly if he can perform 1 × 10 ^ 17. The people inside this simulation do not think that they are just a computer program because they also have the power of a real human brain.
But at present we do not have a computer with that much power. But many, including Google director Ray Kurzweil, say that such powerful computers could be built in the next 50 years. Eric Drexler, a breakthrough in nanotechnology, is already preparing to design a computer capable of 1×10^21 transmission in 1 second. Matrioshka Brain, a researcher by the name of Rober Brandbury, came up with the idea of building a great machine. Theoretically, it's the size of a planet's computer. The Matrioshka Brain is a computer that uses Dyson Sphere to store all the energy coming from the sun. Such computers can perform up to 1×10^42 operations per second. If a human needs 1×10^17 computer to work, one computer is enough to simulate all the humans on earth. Then the Matrioshka Brain machine can simulate billions of planets at the same time. In short, a Type 2 civilization can simulate 700 million people on Earth.
If there is to be reality when such a simulation world exists, not only man but the entire universe must be simulated. So how powerful is a computer?
Simulating the universe would require more energy than the universe itself. Or have to use infinite energy. That is never possible.
But man in the universe does not need so much clarity to believe that it is real. Instead, the simulation program needs only a few adjustments when needed. Because there is no need to completely simulate the stars you see in the night sky. On the contrary, it is enough to give the position of the objects only the faint appearance of the objects. No need to give them any more details. For example, if one looks at Mars with the naked eye, it is enough to display only a small dot-like shape. When looking through a telescope, you need to give some detailing. It is enough to really simulate Mars only when going straight. Similarly, when one looks through a microscope, it is enough to give the bacteria and similar details there.
Another thing is that those who live in the world of simulation can never understand the truth. This is because only if there are some errors in the program can we tell whether we are in the simulation or not. But even if there is such a problem in the program and someone inside the simulation finds it, the simulator programmer can change and erase these memories. If a human brain can perform up to 1×10^17 operations per second, computers capable of 1*10^33 operations per second can simulate all human beings in the world.
In short, with a computer like the Matrioshka Brain, one second is enough to simulate what is going to happen in 100 years. Anyway an advanced civilization will definitely have the technology to do such a simulation.
According to Nick Bostrom, a leading professor at the Oxford University, simulation theories have three possibilities.
1. Even before the progressive society capable of constructing such a simulation theory could have progressed, the progressive society of the universe would have become extinct for some reason.
2. None of the progressive societies is interested in doing such simulations.
3. If the first 2 possibilities are wrong, we are more likely to fall into a simulation. Because the progressive society is not doomed and if they want to do such simulations they will definitely do millions of simulations like this.
According to renowned astronomer Neil Degrasse Tayson, we have a 50% chance of inside a simulation.
Will that b
Anyway if we are inside a simulation the universe we are seeing now is just hypocrisy. The real universe in which this simulated progressive civilization lives is perhaps quite different from what we understand it to be. There will be no laws in our physics. The speed of light does not even have to have a speed limit.
But another thing we need to think about is if maybe our world is a simulation. What if the progressive-thinking civilization that created this simulation is a simulation of another civilization?e the civilization aliens anymore?
Will they simulate us?
"Think, seek, and you will surely find the answer"
