Lets get into Sukumara Kurup's known and unknown story.

It was dawn on January 22, 1984. A call came to the Mavelikkara, Kerala police station. The message was, "Sir, a car caught fire near the Kollikadavu bridge". Police arrived at the scene. The locals were gathered. Everyone put out the fire. A man's soft body was found in the driver's seat of a car shortly after sunrise. The policeman in the crowd read the number of the car. KLQ 7831.

Yes sir, it is Sukumara Kurup's car. Said one of the natives. It was spread all over the places that Sukumara Kurup was dead.

Sukumara Kurup has worked in Abu Dhabi for a long time. He has a high salary and a house in the country. Work on another sitting house is in its final stages. He was traveling in a black ambassador car when the accident happened. Apart from this, Kurup has bought a new car after arriving in the country. He was a man of luxury.

The burnt dead body pulled out. An inspection at the scene found a glove. How did the glove get to this field? DYSP Haridas was in charge of the investigation then. The height of the victim was 180cm and the age was 30-35. He also realized that the clothes he was wearing belonged to Kurup. The police decided to question the next of kin after concluding that it was Kurup who died.

Police reached Sukumara Kurup's house. There was no atmosphere of a death house. There is no great sadness on anyone's face. The smell of roasting chicken coming from inside the house filled the police with surprise. Looking around, the police spotted Kurup's new car lying on the porch.

Will a luxury-loving expatriate like Sukumara Kurup drive away in an old car?

Felt with total mystery.

That's where the police suspicions begin. And questions.

The burnt corpse was taken to the postmortem. When asked by the forensic surgeon who was killed,

DYSP Haridas replied, "A man suspected to be Sukumaran Kurup"

The surgeon's next question was, "Do you suspect? What's the matter?"

"There are some doubts, sir, the investigation is ongoing", Haridas replied.

Postmortem started.

That body did not look like it had been burned in a car accident. Sukumara Kurup himself was dead in terms of height and fat. Symptoms of a fire caused by a fuel flowing in the body like petrol.

How does petrol get into the driver's body when a running car catches fire?

The car was not locked from the inside. Could he have escaped when the car caught fire?

The lungs and trachea were examined openly. But no presence of charcoal was found. If the driver was out of breath when the car caught fire, charcoal and smoke would have entered into the lungs. Officials concluded that the dead body was placed in the driving seat of the car after the death. There is the presence of alcohol in the stomach.

When questioned by relatives, Sukumara Kurup's wife's sister's husband Bhaskaran Pillai said, "Sukumara Kurup, who has a lot of enemies abroad, was strangled and set on fire by some of them". Police decided to question Bhaskaran Pillai in detail.

He was wearing a white dhoti and full sleeve shirt when police called. He was careful to cover the sleeves of his shirt. Suspicious of this, the police asked him to fold the sleeves of his shirt. At first he refused but had to show up at one. The sight of Bhaskaran Pillai's hand added to the suspicion of the police.

Burn wound, that was the sight saw in Bhaskaran Pillai's hand. He could not resist being questioned by police. Bhaskaran Pillai finally confessed to the crime.

The reply was, "The murder of Sukumara Kurup was done himself to rob his property".

But the police were not satisfied with that reply. The interrogation continued. The Sukumara Kurup case as we know it is the truth that was later discovered by the police after objectively assessing the absurdity and suspicion, gathering evidence and making statements.

It was not Sukumara Kurup who was killed.

The postmortem report also confirms this. It was not Kurup who was killed.

Then who?

According to Sukumara Kurup, the police moved to a certain extent. But the script was not perfect. The rest of the story was written by the Kerala Police. But the police could not complete it, Philip Chacko, a resident of Alappuzha, to this person the police come to now.

Who is Chacko?

What is the connection between Sukumara Kurup and Chacko?

That is where Sukumara Kurup's master brain is revealed.

Sukumaran Kurup, who had taken out an insurance policy worth about Rs 30 lakh in Abu Dhabi, claimed that he had died in an accident and planned to snatch the money. Make the body of a person who looks like him burn himself in a car and make it look like he is. Get the big money to the family gets through it. This was the goal.

Shahu, Bhaskaran Pillai and driver Ponnappan, who worked with him in Abu Dhabi, were Kurup's associates in the planning. At first he went to Alappuzha Medical College to find a suitable dead body but could not. However, Kurup was not ready to back down from the plan. If the body is not found, seek out and kill someone who looks like you. Friends agreed with Kurup's decision. Chacko was found from Karuvatta on a night trip on a national highway in two cars to find someone. Chacko, a film representative, pointed to his car as he could not get a vehicle to return home at night. Little did he know that the journey would lead to death.

Chacko showed his hand to the car belonging to Bhaskaran Pillai and Ponnappan. They loaded Chacko. Kurup and his teammates may have felt that Chacko had the same height, and the same shape as Kurup. They looked no further. They decided to kill Chacko. Chacko's car was followed by Kurup's car.

Within minutes of getting out of the car, the loyal Kurup's trio teams befriended with Chacko.

They poured a glass of liquor and handed it to Chacko, who was returning home after work. Chacko, who said no, was forcibly trapped. After giving the ether mixed alcohol, the after doings was very quick. Bhaskaran Pillai strangled Chacko as he had decided in advance. Chacko did not let go until he opened his eyes and confirmed his death. At that time, the car was speeding on the national highway. Later, they went straight to Kurup's wife's house. Kurup's clothes were put on Chacko's lifeless body. His face was doused in petrol and burned to prevent him from recognizing.

On reaching Karuvatta, Chacko's dead body was placed in the driver's seat of Kurup's old ambassador car. The black ambassador drove the car into the paddy field. Petrol was poured around the car and set on fire. Kurup and team were wearing gloves to avoid any evidence. But when the car gets fire, The fire spread and burned their hands.

Police received a glove the next day from the car as evidence that the perpetrators were unknowingly left behind in all the crimes. When Shahu was questioned during the pre-trial investigation on suspicion. Shahu revealed the details of the conspiracy to the police. The case file registered under crime number 16/89 is now on the long pending list and is at the police headquarters.

Bhaskaran Pillai, who was arrested, completed 12 years in prison and later died. Driver Ponnappan committed suicide. Witness apologized in Shahu case.

But Sukumara Kurup?

When Bhaskaran Pillai described the incident at the police station, the real Sukumara Kurup was hiding in a lodge in Aluva. Only later did the police find out. Police had received information that Sukumara Kurup had drowned in Bhutan from Aluva when he came to know about the arrest of Bhaskaran Pillai.

No clear information has been received since then. Sukumara Kurup has died once before. Many refer to Sukumara Kurup as another case that has not been registered besides the Chacko case.

This story is about a soldier named Gopala Krishnan. After losing his pre-degree, Gopala Krishnan joined the Air Force. But he could not get along with military life. When he arrived in vacation, he created fake document showing he is died and provided the information to the Air Force. After that he adopted the new name of Sukumara Kurup.

He later took a passport with the same name and went to the Gulf. After Chacko's assassination, the trap was spread for him in many ways. Police have circulated a picture of the arrested Kurup. None of the traps
he was not trapped. It is learned that the police have been monitoring Kurup's relatives continuously for 8 years.

Many people were taken into police custody and interrogated in various parts of the country, including cities and villages. The result was disappointment for all investigating officers.

Kurup may be sitting somewhere and watching everything as if someone with the appearance of Kurup has been caught.

If Sukumara Kurup were alive today, he would be 77 years old.

There are those who believe that Kurup is dead and lives in some part of the world.

But under a different name, he may be in a different place, seeing and hearing everything.
